Glazer debt interest climbs yet higher

18 08 2010

This week the interest rate on the infamous Payment in Kind ("PIK") loans taken out by the Glazer family in 2006 and secured on their ownership of Manchester United rises from 14.25% to a staggering 16.25% per annum. According to the Financial Times, the increase in the interest rate has been triggered by the Glazers' failure to keep the amount of debt down to targets struck in 2006.

The increasing cost of the PIKs will inevitably be borne by Manchester United. The Glazer family have failed to repay a single penny of "their" debts in the last four years, their US businesses are struggling and the only source of cash is our football club. The bond issue allows the Glazers to take hundreds of millions of pounds out of the club to pay down the PIKs, despite David Gill telling us that they are "their responsibility".

The rise in the PIK interest rate this week, caused by the Glazers' inability to hit their own targets, is another sad chapter in the story of the Glazers' exploitation of Manchester United.

Press release: NEW SEASON. SAME GOAL

15 08 2010

In response to reports of Sir Alex Ferguson's comments a M.U.S.T. spokesperson said:

M.U.S.T. agrees wholeheartedly with Sir Alex that the first priority is to get behind the team - especially for those supporters who are inside the stadium and can influence the players on the pitch. We also welcome his continued backing for the supporters right to show their opposition to the owners through the Green & Gold campaign which helped to create a great atmosphere last season.

Undoubtedly there will be fewer scarves of any colour on display in the warmer months of the early season and no doubt some saw it as a fashion accessory for last season only.  However Green & Gold will remain a powerful symbol of the continued desire for a change in ownership at Manchester United - a desire which burns within the vast majority of Manchester United supporters whatever colours they choose to wear.

UNITED WE STAND - DIVIDED WE FALL

11 08 2010

It is vital at this most testing of times that we do all we can to keep the United family together.

NEW SEASON - SAME GOAL

UNITED WE STAND - DIVIDED WE FALL

Some people will have made the heart-wrenching decision to give up their Season Tickets for the coming season, others will have given them up long ago. Many can no longer justify the expense of season tickets, and others will be attending on a match-by-match basis, watching other games at MUST Chubb Club screenings or with their mates in the pub. Others will have renewed and will continue to wear Green & Gold, awaiting further developments from the Red Knights. More still will just want to watch the football and not have anything to do with MUST or the campaign, although many of those will still be glad to see the back of the Glazers.........

Green & Gold update - New Season - Same Goal

11 08 2010

Wearing Green & Gold is a highly visible and effective way for United supporters to demonstrate our opposition to the Glazer regime whilst still showing our undying love and loyalty for the team.

POSTER: New Season. Same Goal.
NEW POSTER IN CENTRAL MANCHESTER - NEW SEASON - SAME GOAL

Last season it was amazing wasn’t it? Nothing like it has been seen in the history of our club - perhaps in football. Supporters of other clubs may have come to mock it but we all know why - because underneath they were green with envy at the spectacular movement built by United supporters. They secretly wished their fans could do something like that. The reason the Green & Gold movement exploded last season has not gone away, and so neither has the strength of feeling amongst supporters.
